This is just an FYI. King County Parks gets no general fund money. They are funded by a 6 year Parks Levy that covers a little over 80% of their total budget and has to be reapproved by the voters. The other approximately 20% comes from “entrepreneurial” efforts with Marymoor Park being the biggest portion. But they are out there with weddings, runs, concerts and other ways to make money. All of this is sometimes a little scary and needs some watching. Grants are also applied for to match Levy funds. BUT the reason we are bringing this to you is they are beginning the process of building the Levy projects list. If a trail is going to be built, this is how it gets budgeted and funded. We know several of you have trails that you hope to see built or completed. There is a survey in the link attached above which is an important place to start. We don’t know the rest of the process but if you are advocating for something in particular, you should find out more. This is not to be confused with buying the corridor. That is CFT with Parks Levy and other Grant Fund match.
We hope this is helpful.
